Camilla Forbes was a young woman from Grampian who died in 2004 from relapsed acute myeloid leukaemia at a time when she was about to embark on her university studies in Design in Newcastle. Despite her young years Camilla was remarkably courageous and during the final months of her life worked tirelessly to promote awareness of, and raise funds for, The Anthony Nolan Trust. Camilla was a recipient of an unrelated stem cell transplant identified by the Trust. Even though the transplant failed to prevent further relapse of her leukaemia, Camilla recognised the importance of transplant registries so that in principle all in need of a transplant could have the chance of receiving a transplant.

In memory of Camilla, her family have made a generous and sizeable donation to The Scottish Haematology Society to establish The Camilla Forbes Bursary. The Bursary will support haematology professionals in training within Scotland in furthering their studies in an area of malignant haematology with a grant of up to £1000. In exceptional cases larger grants may be considered.

Dr Howard Davies was a Consultant Haematologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh from 1963 - 1979.  He had a particular interest in haemostasis and developed many of the specialised laboratory methods and the practice of comprehensive care for people with haemophilia.

On his death his widow Dr Anne Lambie generously set up the Howard Davies bequest with the aim of promoting educational activities particularly in the field of haemostasis.  The bequest is administered by the Scottish Haematology Society and is used to fund a visiting Guest Speaker in the field of Haemostasis/Thrombosis at the Annual Meeting. 

In addition, The Howard Davies Bequest will support haematology professionals in training within Scotland in furthering their studies in an area of non-malignant haematology with a bursary of up to £1000.
